Laying Tile and Painting

This is going to be a lengthy post because, as usual, I have neglected posting any progress.  We were able to get a bit done over the Christmas and New Year holidays and our recent snow days.

Since the last post, we first had the hardwood floors installed.

Here's a shot of the color.  Although this color does not match the rest of our house, we eventually want all of our floors to be this color, so we figured it made sense to go ahead and stain these the color we want everthing to be.

Once the hardwoods were installed, we were able to lay the tile in the bathroom and put up the crown molding and baseboards.  Once we got all the tile in the bathroom, we brough in the claw foot tub. Here's a few pictures of the tile in the bathroom.

Here's the tub, and that's where it will go, but we needed to leave it on the rollers until we finish everything in the bathroom.

Here's a shot that you can see a little bit of the shower.  You'll see we continued the double black line theme into the shower, and that will match our sconce lights once we get those installed.

Once we had all the tile laid, we were ready to finish painting the bathroom.  We spent the New Year holiday painting the bathroom.  It took forever.  We had to paint all the trim, which took three coats!  So, on New Year's eve when I thought we would be able to paint everything, we had almost finished the trim!  Because we wanted to stripe the bathroom, we had to finish painting on Saturday, so that the paint would have time to dry and we could paint the stripes on Monday.  So, on Monday, we taped the stripes on the walls, and got to painting.

The walls looked great, until we pulled off the tape and this happened...

The tape pulled off some of the drywall, which is not what we hoped would happen.  So, after a period of complete frustration, Kevin patched the tears and hopefully we'll just be able to touch up the paint.  This picture shows off the stripes pretty good.  It's the same color, but alternating a flat and a satin finish.

Yesterday and today we have had snow days, so we were able to do a little more work.  Here's me doing the ever exciting job of filling all the nail holes so that we can finish the rest of the painting.

So, now we should be set to finish up painting everything else - the pantry, hallway, bedroom and closet.
